Summit 2014 – Part 1

Wow, what a whirlwind last weekend was! My apologies, as this WILL get wordy. I have so much to recount!

Flying past Mt. Rainier. // First glimpses of Las Vegas!

I arrived in Vegas for Summit Wednesday night, meeting Kim and Dianna at the airport. When we got to our hotel (New York-New York), I walked through the doors and was instantly struck by how crazy everything is: an infinite sea of slot machines, lights, noise, cigarette smoke, and people, but no obvious sign as to where to check in.

Cute feature in the New York-New York hotel. // An appropriate fortune to kick off Summit.

We got everything sorted out with little trouble (our hotel room was about six turns and 40 doors down from the elevators), grabbed a bite inside the hotel, and I tried to settle into bed early, but my adrenaline kept me up past midnight. We woke up early the next morning to get registered, but underestimated how long it would take three girls to get ready with only one bathroom (Becca wasn’t arriving until later, so four girls total for three days). We also didn’t realize how far away the conference area of MGM would be compared to our hotel.

Meeting Chalene Johnson! Not really… // With Kim, my awesome coach! (Kim’s photo)

First look at the PiYo kit! // The PiYo merchandise was front-and-centre inside The Core.

After we waited in an insanely long lineup for registration, we waited in another long line to shop at the Beachbody store, The Core. Everything was 25% off, so naturally, we went crazy. Our arms full, we proceeded to wait in another massive lineup to pay. Once we finally escaped The Core, we had to rush to the Team B.O.S.S. party, which we were late for by this point. And, of course, it took us a while to find it. (If you’ve never been inside a casino, let alone a giant one like MGM, you need to know that they are all designed to be a maze to ensure that you are disoriented, time- and direction-wise.) We did make it just in time for Heather and Phillip’s speech to the team though!

At the end of Heather and Phillip’s speech, they asked to see who the newest coach was, and that was me at two months (actually closer to a month and a half)! For my investment in going to Summit, they gave me a Friday photo op wrist band!!!! I was in so much shock I think I barely blurted out a ‘thank you’. We took some team photos, mingled, ate some food, and hurried back to the room to change into workout gear for PiYo with Chalene Johnson!!

It’s Chalene Johnson!!

We got in line for PiYo just under an hour and a half before start time, completely not expecting to be waiting out in the burning hot sun. (It was 35+ degrees Celsius everyday.) The workout was packed, but we somehow all managed to find some room to work out, albeit not without tripping over or kicking some bags once in a while. The workout was AMAZING! And Chalene was amazing, of course. That evening was the opening general session for Summit. There were so many amazing announcements! You can watch it here (skip ahead about 15 minutes):

My head was swirling by the end of general session: full of excitement and ideas for the future of Beachbody and my business, but even more so for my own health and personal development. Day one complete!
